Fans of numbers, stats, deep character & squad levelling will probably be very fond of the RPG aspect of the game & the turn based combat is a strategists dream. PRTG Network Monitor is an all-inclusive monitoring software solution developed by Paessler. However, negatives aside, there is a lot to enjoy about Wasteland 2. The visuals too are very basic and there is a certain amount of janky-ness to the menus & presentation. Audio too has occasionally dropped out with some lines of spoken dialogue stopping mid-sentence. Sadly some of the negative comments turned out to be true Wasteland 2 is prone to the occasional glitch and whilst I have yet to experience anything game-beaking I have been witness to several temporary freezes and framerate drops which for a game that hardly pushes the hardware is sort of disappointing.

Although I do enjoy the occasional strategy RPG the PS4 is currently not flooded with options in the genre & I had heard a few negative comments made about this particular title. I was a little on the fence as to whether I should take a punt on Wasteland 2: Directors Cut on the PS4. Wasteland 2: Directors Cut is a single player RPG set in a post-apocalyptic setting featuring turn-based, squad based combat. Released at a budget price it's a little gem of a game for your collection and given the multiple outcomes of the mass of storylines within, it should get more than a couple of replays. But in terms of a deep, immersive RPG experience it ticks all the right boxes for me, I'm only 40 or so hours in but it still feels like I'm just getting started.

The quality can be a little hit and miss: it's a PC port so the controls seem a little unfamiliar, but only at first the voice acting is top quality as other's have mentioned the camera could do with an overhaul. With such a great pedigree and wealth of industry experience behind it, Wasteland 2 contains some great inside jokes - an NPC called Robert Bowling just tried to sell me some dodgy guns and I have a melee weapon called Notch that looks like a pixelated pickaxe, for example - and if you get half of them you'll find the game a delight. But what really cooks my nukes is that this is a Brian Fargo game, he's been designing titles for as long as I've been gaming (he founded Interplay back in 1983 around the same time I had just upgraded my ZX81 with a new RAM pack and some Blu-Tac). The gameplay is rich with alternative ways of approaching any situation, deep customisation and what might as well be XCOM's combat engine doing all the number crunching behind the scenes judging by the number of times I miss when it really matters. However, Wasteland 2's combination of Fallout-esque Lore and an atmosphere that is more akin to Krater than it is XCOM has finally made a convert out of me. I've never been a great fan of the tactical RPG genre, I bought into the XCOM franchise at Enemy Unknown and it really put me off because it just wasn't my playstyle.
